“Who’s gonna play me? He’s gotta be good looking.”

“Ed Harris,” we said, joking. It was a jailhouse dream, an impossible dream, something to be accomplished in another lifetime when you could start over and make all the right decisions.

"Let's stop by Hudson News, "Logan says, "See if they have our book."
"We don't have time," Noah says.
"It's right here," Logan says, hustling past Hudson's glass-paneled storefront.
"No time," Noah says.

We both stop. Immediately. Not one more step. It feels like someone is watching us. We turn slowly and look into Hudson's. A very tall man is standing on the other side of the glass reading our book. What are the odds?
We smile. Man it feels good. Somebody other than our mom is interested in what we have to say.
We start banging on the glass.
The very tall man looks up from the page. He must be 6 foot 7.

"Hey!" We yell, pounding the huge window. "That's our book! That's us!"

He throws us an angry look and keeps reading. He could crush us with one blow. He's that big.
We bang the window harder. It's a huge piece of glass. It just might break. We're so excited we're about to pee.

"That's our book you're reading. That's us on the cover!"

We're jumping up and down with our backpacks like a couple of Twilight fans.
A buff guy walks up to the tall guy. It must be his travel buddy. We read the buff guy's lips through the glass: who are these idiots?

"We're the idiots that wrote the book!" we scream. "That's us on the cover!"
"They look like twins," buff guy says.
"We are twins!"

Tall guy flips over the book and looks at our photo on the cover. He's still not buying it, still thinks we're a couple of idiots.
Buff guy thinks it just might be us on the cover, but he's not sold. What are the odds?
Noah pulls out his driver's license. Security is coming. We're a few yells and bangs on the glass away from getting molly-whopped by the TSA or a fist-fight with tall guy and buff guy.
Buff guy walks up to the glass and reads Noah's license: Noah Miller. 
He says something to his friend. They read the cover of our book: Logan and Noah Miller. 
They're the idiots who wrote the book!

"If you buy our book, we'll give you one." We had a bunch in our backpacks. "Two for one."

They walk up to the register and buy our book. They walk outside. Our smiles are huge. They're smiling too.

"Where you from?" we ask.
"Oz," they say.

We talk for a minute. They're on their way home after touring the States for a month. 

"Thanks for buying our book... We really appreciate it."
"Looking forward to reading it, mates."

We shake hands. We head to New York. And they go back to Oz...

]]>Here’s the information for Carly Ivan Garcia – the artist for Brad Dourif’s work in TOUCHING HOMEhttp://www.touchinghomemovie.com/touching-home-brothers-blog/2010/4/6/heres-the-information-for-carly-ivan-garcia-the-artist-for-b.htmlTouching Home2010-04-07T01:50:17ZCarly Ivan Garcia grew up in the eclectic artist’s town of Fairfax, California.  He comes from a family of artists who encouraged Garcia to create from a young age.  Garcia was immediately attracted to the varied color palette and available textures offered by the medium of paint.  Over the years he developed and evolved the unique neo-abstract style which, at the young age of 34-years old has made him famous along the West coast of the United States.

Garcia feels that his more recent veering towards thick textures and mixed media give him artistic license to challenge the boundaries of contemporary art and produce work that is loyal to the specific creative language he seeks. “The paintings I create are constantly breathing and living. I am always trying to take my paintings further, to evolve my neo-abstract style into a truly unique and original body of work.” – Garcia. Garcia’s language of imagery is translated through strong form and bold palettes.  He constructs landscapes of modernity.

“Currently I find myself drawn to large scale canvases that give me more space to play with perspective, suggestion and composition.  In the intricacies of line, color and subject matter, my paintings stimulate the eye and *pop* - drawing the viewer in to find something new each time he or she looks at a piece.  It is an intense visual experience and inner journey” – Garcia

In the past few years, Garcia’s work has been shown in numerous gallery solo shows around California and has been included in countless group shows all over the West coast of the United States.  In December 2009 Garcia’s work was exhibited in Miami, Florida during Art Basel.  He was featured in a group show for international emerging artists and also collaborated with Graffiti Gone Global to create a large scale installation that received extensive media coverage.

Paying homage to his pop icon appeal is Garcia’s upcoming media spotlight. Ten of his paintings, created as if "he were obsessed with pigeons," are the focus pieces in the new feature film Touching Home, starring Ed Harris, due in all major theaters this Spring.  carlyivangarcia.com
